Sponsored Video: My First Time

Do you remember your first time driving a car? Not the first time you got into the car with the instructor and felt intimidated, but the first time you drove it without the instructor. Was it alone or were you with friends? Do you remember which car it was and who it belonged to? Did anything go wrong?

I remember driving my father’s SUV and I felt pressured with him nagging me at the side. Then I would secretly steal his car out in the middle of the night to go for supper with friends. That’s when I felt real freedom. How was my first time driving the car without my dad? Euphoria. Sheer joy. Exhilarated.

What about driving a totally new car for the first time? In my line of work as a motoring journalist, I get the privilege of test driving new cars with the latest technologies. I’m usually more intrigued than intimidated, but some of my passengers feel scared when I give them a lift in these cars. I recall a friend of mine refusing to get into the McLaren 12C because she felt a little overwhelmed with the doors!

Well, don’t be afraid of anything. Be confident, drive confident! That is the theme of the new Volkswagen Polo launch campaign. One of the world’s best-selling compact models with nearly 14 million units produced to date, the new Polo boasts a new design, new engine and new technologies.

The new Polo comes with a turbocharged engine (1.2 TSI), Stop/Start system ,regenerative braking, newly developed electro-mechanical steering system, six airbags, Volkswagen’s Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP)an advanced entertainment system and more as standard. These make the car easy to drive and handle – after all, your first time shouldn’t be that difficult.

Visit the new Polo website for more information. Also, share your most memorable passenger anecdotes and tag him/her to show that you can drive confidently without their ‘help’! The“Tag Your Annoying Passenger” Facebook contest can be found here.
