With a smaller turning radius, lower fuel consumption and reduced tyre wear – all at a higher payload – the Volvo FMX Tridem is designed to help maximise productivity.

Singapore company Chye Joo Construction was given an earthwork excavation project and went to Volvo Trucks, who then recommend the Tridem to them.

With the intention of providing a total solution, Volvo Trucks provides everything from driver training to a comprehensive service agreement so that customers can get the full support.

Singapore is ever developing, with lots of land reclamation, new malls, new buildings and new MRT lines. As a result, the construction industry faces many challenges in finding more efficient transport solutions to deal with the competition.

One special feature of the Tridem is how the last axle can be lifted when the vehicle is not loaded. This way, there will be less rolling resistance, less tyre wear and less fuel economy. When the Tridem is loaded, the last axle comes down and the vehicle is able to carry higher loads but not compromising on the turning radius.

Hence, the Tridem boasts a small turning circle, higher capacity and low fuel economy, all of which help Chye Joo Construction to meet the extensive requirements and complete the project on time. Chye Joo Construction bought 25 Tridem trucks and has experienced a saving of 20% in manpower and S$16,000 of fuel cost savings a year per Tridem.

Chye Joo Construction has reaped the benefits of the Tridem, which helped to enhance productivity and increase profitability, and hence would like to share this secret with everyone.
