On a recent trip on Royal Carribbean’s Mariner of the Seas, we made a stopover at Penang and Langkawi. It was 5.30pm by the time we got off the cruise at Penang and we had to be back on the ship by 9.00pm, so there wasn’t much time to explore. I really wanted to go and find the different wall murals that I often see on Instagram.

I had a map in hand of Georgetown, where the majority of the street art are found, so I started to walk along the streets to look for the wall murals. It was easier though, to just ask the local vendors and shopkeepers (and buy a thing or two from them) and they are more than happy to point you in the direction of the murals.

There are many maps you can find on Google, but the murals do change from time to time, as some fall apart due to weather so you may not be able to see all anymore. New ones are also being painted.

Take your time to walk around Georgetown and look for them, at the same time get some local delicacies in! Oh, for a start you can look for Lebuh Pantai or Lebuh Chulia.
