Having access to a gym 24 hours sounds good and it is available in Singapore now – since last October in fact. Global 24-hour gym franchise Anytime Fitness opened its first branch in Woodlands and has opened more in MacPherson, Marine Parade Central and Jurong Gateway this year. It announced plans for 100 branches in Singapore in five years’ time.
Unlike the big gyms like Fitness First or True Fitness, Anytime Fitness is a cosy gym concept which offers the necessary equipment you need and will be located at densely-populated housing areas, so as to reach out to as many people as possible. There are no studios for group classes but just the typical weights and cardio machines. The point is to build a close community with the gym and not intimidate others with large spaces and complex machines.
From 10pm to 10am, the gym will be unmanned but members can access it with the universal key fob. This key fob works for any Anytime Fitness gyms around the world. That means, you just sign up as a member at any one Anytime Fitness gym but you can go to any of their branches worldwide at no additional cost. Membership rates are S$88 per month (for an 18-month package) or S$98 per month (for a year-long deal). Pre-sale sign-up offers can go as low as S$68 per month.
